Easter Pictures

#5 was not wanting to be in any pictures but we did capture him for a few.

In birth order.

and trying to get my crew together with me

well, we are together, I guess looking in the same direction is optional!

School days, field trip(s)

We spent a day at the science center.   Spending a lot of time with the dinosaurs

and finding fossils, including eggs.

I do think if we got a big 'hamster' wheel like this for the house the kids could help create some electricity for us. Sounds like a win-win, fun 'workout' and supply the family with some electric power ;)

The big kids got to introduce some children at a local Head Start to a couple of our chickens.  It was really fun to see how the students reacted to the rooster crowing.  Each one would cover their ears but had a huge grin and laughter.

Pictures from our visit to France

The older 3 have been studying different countries around the world this year.  Here are a few things we did while in France.

Made our own versions of the Eiffel tower.

 #1 version with paper clips.

 #2 with Popsicle sticks

 #2 made a fashion creation

#3 painted something for the Louvre

Home from France...Something #5 and I worked on.  I've had this book since my oldest was his age but for the first time we made the birthday cake for Little Bear.  Although not pictured we did eat the cake with strawberries and cream as the story talks about.

Spring time!

We know the end of cold is in sight and we can't wait to see Green!

The middle kids and I got to go on a hike one warm day last week. At the first choice of hike we arrived at the trail head only to find out there was a controlled fire in the area so it was a no go.  We decided to go to the playground on site for a bit.  #2 jumps off the swing and lands on her feet.  #4 decides to try this as well.  With a big grin on his face he jumps and proceeds to throw his body to the ground and roll.  I'm sure it would have made a great tackle, but as far as a jump off the swing, well I held my breathe as I waited to see if he was ok, then laughed in relief.  The boy that has no fear was fine.
Shortly after that we found our way to another hiking spot.

and today is like this picture, another taste of cold.

Treats

The kids ask to cook and I say go for it.  They ask to make dessert and I say sure(and I do make them clean up the mess!).  I do believe I should be asking for some stretchy yoga pants for Christmas.  So far this month they have made some cookies and...

#2 made chocolate chip peppermint cheese cake.

#1 made carrot cake with cream cheese frosting.

snow days 2013

There is a street behind him....somewhere.

While I don't like the cold, I do love the snow!

He's up to mischief of one kind or another.  What to do when there are no hills around?

I don't think the chickens understand how to make snow angels.

They did show a little curiosity about the snow. They were only walking about in it for 15 minutes(and that was after it was on the ground 3 days).  Much prefer their almost snow free run and coop.

This boy is quite gun-ho about everything!

Posing with her pumpkin and art work.

enjoyed good eats, fun games, bounce houses and hayrides.  Oh yes and the kids are enjoying lots of candy now:)  Looking forward to decorating our pumpkins soon!
