Slings and things

I got a Moby wrap this week and have been trying to figure it out. It is so very soft and baby loves it but I haven't quite gotten the science of putting it on. It is a ton of fabric! A friend recommended it to me as the baby is quite heavy and thought this might be more comforting for my back as opposed to the ring sling which I do love too.

Look where I found this character as we were putting groceries away;)

Who does she look like?

This is what I thought to myself as I looked closely at my daughter. She looks like my sister, no....she looks like me. It was so funny, I was looking at her face closely(which is another post for some other time) and I came upon this discovery. It just made think back to when my children were first born and you just stare in awe of what the Lord has gifted you with. What has been growing inside your womb for 9 months. What a wonderful creation and once again I'm struck with the fact that we are entrusted to raise and love and nurture this person. Such an awesome responsibility.
btw if you look closely you can see that she has a sprinkling of freckles:)

I lost my thought so lets go on to the next photo.

Don't you love the expression. He's helping water the plants but keeps getting frustrated with the hose. His hands are a little to small to easily spray the water. He had figured it out and I ran for the camera(and shut the front door as he was a bit wild with water) but when I came back his hand had slipped again and instead of helping I snapped a picture.

Sheela found a new place to nap.

#3 said something about this plant today. I can't remember what the exact comment was but he called it a weed. I took offense. What do you think?

Weekend

I developed a sore throat Friday night, could feel it coming on at dinner. Ran a fever during the night, took some headache medicine on Saturday morning and felt ok. We had a busy Saturday, got our 'new' car registered-it cost us a whole $10 to do so! James had a softball game, once again the tradewinds have left, air is filled with vog and it is HOT! Poor #4 as soon as we got to the game he had sweat droplets on his head. Kids played around while the guys played ball. Other team didn't have enough players so it was just a scrimmage. Then we took our picnic lunch to a shady spot where it was a tad cooler and decided we'd go to the $1 theater to cool off. So we took the kids to see Horton Hears a Who. We had a good time, movie was silly. Got home rested and had supper(thanks to the crockpot)
Sunday, however, the fever wouldn't let me go. James got a lot of home projects done and kids got to practice their skills on being quiet.
I'm still not 100% but feeling better each day. #2 made me a cute get well card, my intent is to take a picture of it to share with all.

If you hear #4 calling for hat that means he is looking for the cat.
*********

James officially started some college classes last night!!

I started playing the grocery game. I have a friend(or 2) that have had huge savings with this. I'm not sure how well it will be for me because of my location and being able to use the commissary but I'm going to try the trial run and see. I've also been reading about square foot gardening and may give that a try this summer as well. I haven't had much success in my gardening ventures out here due to space and kids/balls trampling stuff. But figure instead of waiting for the space I might try this new (to me) idea-it's not like food prices are getting any better.

Friday night and all is well...

Wow, it's been longer than I thought since I last posted! We've been busy 'spring' cleaning and enjoying our new toys. Lego's were a big hit this year. I have been avoiding them for awhile. I remember how much they hurt when you step on them! But it has been really fun to see what they can come up with both with following the directions on guides(whoa, they can follow step-by-step instructions!) and by what they can imagine and create on their own.

Sheela has been enjoying her gift as well. It is a goldfish tunnel. By day it is a good sleeping spot, by night she is the great hunter and attacks the thing.

Here is our little rock 'n roller. Poor guy started running a fever this afternoon. Prayers for a fast moving bug.

cat update

James took the cat to the vet while we went to church today. Can I say what a difference between the vet we saw yesterday and the one we saw today. One way relaxed and the other very aggressive. Turns out I should listen to my mommy cat instincts as what is wrong is something that flittered through my mind yesterday but as the vet made no mention of it, I didn't dwell on it too much. Kitty is being treated overnight with fluids and antibiotics, they might keep her 2 days to make sure but should be on the mend with no troubles. The bill for all of this of course is VERY high....I think it shall change some of our plans on our trip that is coming up shortly. I7 didn't like leaving her there and we had to explain that we would be picking her back up but she needed to stay at the hospital to make sure she got well.

Ever feel like time was getting away from you. Many times this week I wanted to stop and post a little note yet never found a moment to do so. Now do you suppose I remember all those random thoughts? LOL If you do you are sadly mistaken;) It's taken me 2 hours to work on this post so far......dinner time called!
One day the kids were playing. First they were pretending J was sick and they were bringing him presents. Then they were all playing games to help him when he was 'sick' They had the magna doodle out and were playing the letter game(aka wheel of fortune) I was happy to see they were practicing spelling while I was dealing with a cranky baby! I just remembered after this the decided to pretend it was J's birthday. They were wrapping toys up in blankets and clothes for him to open. They invited me and L to the party and we got to all sit around and watch J open the gifts and help him as needed. Fun times!

We've been getting magazines in the mail, the kids love these. I do too! I was telling James that I wish we got these magazines in the mail when I was a kid.
Some of our favorites are: MindWare, museum tour, and magic cabin. The kids are earnestly making lists of things they like. Then they will mark out things and say well I really like those but instead of those you could get me this.;) Problem is I'd like most of what they pick too!

Here is a random picture from last weekend. We went to an airshow. Although I have no pictures of planes I did take this one. I7 was especially impressed by the size of this wheel!

Our cat is sick. We took her to the Vet to get her shots updated and when they were doing the routine exam they discovered that she had a pretty high fever. I thought she was napping a little more than usual yesterday but otherwise no displays of anything going on. So no shots today, they did a little bit of blood work and we are to go to an emergency vet tomorrow if her fever isn't down. Taking that temperature should be fun...she was not happy about having her temp taken twice today and then for the blood work they took 4cc's from her jugular....poor cat had a rough day!
