Made from.......

My kids are always interested in where things are made.
Overhead at lunch today "You weren't made in China. You were made from God."

Hiking

We've sadly neglected our hikes since the youngest was born but we are determined to get back into it. Upon hearing that we were going on a hike today our 3year old asked if we could take a walk after the hike. Which caused me and his sister to smile, she tried to help him understand that a hike was like a long walk. He was still determined to walk afterwards, so we told him we'd see what he thought after we were done. It was a beautiful day here. We went to an old favorite up in Aiea Heights, was reminded again that it was a holiday-I don't think I've ever seen so many cars there! The trail was very muddy, we got sprinkled on and rained on but had a good time.
Here is daddy dragging J3-I mean helping him-through the mud. I wasn't sure if it was a good thing J had his old shoes on or if it would have been easier on him if he had the new shoes that had a better grip to them.

I have to say J did so well. About the last 20min he got tired and we had to encourage him to walk but considering it took us 4 hours today and he's not use to it he did awesome!

I & I lead the group for most of today. This picture cracks me up as I caught I7 with his tongue out:D

the landscape

These flowers were some of my favorites to see dot the hill sides. There were some purple ones with berries that I loved also. It was so lush and green(and muddy!) so different from the area we live.

As we were finishing the Hike J3 decided that he didn't want to take a walk afterwards(snicker) although I fully expect him to ask again before bedtime!

a word about gecko's

Now if you visit us you might be surprised to see a gecko run across the wall. Soon you will grow to love the little critters as you realize how helpful and cute they are, you might even name one! That being said a word of warning about these little beings. My dear husband had a first last night, yes it involved one of these innocent little creatures. There he was sitting at the computer minding his own business. Hears the little guy calling to his friends when a few minutes later he feels something on his neck...hmm what could it be?? Looks up and there is a gecko right above his head. Anyone know if it's good luck to get pooped on by a gecko? I tried hard not to laugh as I don't want to be next to get hit but come on it is a bit funny yes?! and it only took us 4 years to happen:D although I'm not sure I'll be able to look at a gecko the same way now.

We've had a great week here. We've been talking about how Jesus is the Light of the World. The kids are studying John 8:12 "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." Science has been about the Universe and stars. We stayed up a little later one night and looked at the stars. We'll have to have daddy get his telescope together for us one night again so we can look some more! We have also been studying Native Americans. The kids have enjoyed our projects with these studies. Everyday they'd ask what do we get to make today??
Here they are working hard on their wigwam's

Now the camera was misplaced for a few days so we managed to lose a few tepee's but here are some more homes.

Today we had a beach day, it was so nice!! We've neglected to go for a few months, it seemed like every time we wanted to the jellyfish were in so just wasn't working out. James' softball game ended up be canceled today so we got to spend more time that we had planned. Took a nice little lunch and had a fun day in the sun.

Doesn't the poor thing look tired?

But he loved splashing!! He crawled around the shore and loved me to take him out in the water where he'd swim and splash and pretend to gulp the water!

I watched daddy bury the other kids from the shade. I started to get up and get a closer picture but I5 was already getting up!

Why was I in the shade? Because it was nap time!

We had these things shading us. We were hoping that they weren't interested in falling down anytime soon.

I did take pictures of the other kids but they didn't turn out great. We got a new camera and I am getting use to the new settings.

catch up

We had our 3rd week of school last week. All went well. Wednesday we had the kick off to start our bible study this fall. The kids were so excited to start, I admit I was too. Looks like we will have another wonderful year with PWOC, such a great group of women-it's wonderful to be around those who love Christ.

I have some pictures to share from a busy weekend. First off we had the last game of soccer.
Here is I5 and I7 chasing the golden snitch as James called it.

A shot after the game, little brother had to get in too! J3 always told everyone that he did little soccer because at soccer practice and most games we'd play soccer with him behind the scenes.

The kids team won, 7-0. They did really good with team work on the last game, it was good to see! We had great coaches, thank you for your hard work coaches!

Next on the schedule was some water play at church. For VBS this year we had a water park theme. So this was about a month after VBS that we held a water play day to invite all the VBS children back.
It was a very humid weekend so it was the best timing to have some water fun!

L1 favorite part was playing in a car

Just one more picture to post, Sunday we had a baby dedication for L1. So here are most of us with Pastor David.

There is the quick version on what have we been up too. I think one of the best moments for me this weekend was having a date with my husband and coming home to a quiet house. Ahh, nothing so wonderful as coming home to a house with sleeping children! Now onto having breakfast and starting the new week.

Numb

I had my first "dental work" experience today. The people in the office seemed surprised I'd never had to have my face numbed before-kinda makes me wonder the state of everyone's teeth these days! So they give me the shot after telling me it usually hurts more on the bottom, great just what one wants to hear. It wasn't too bad then they started twisting it, ok a little uncomfortable then the twisting got a little more out of hand yikes glad that didn't last long! So I'm waiting for the numbness to set in...feel a little tingling and a little more. They ask how I feel and if my tongue is numb. Tongue isn't really numb but wait a minute, you are working on my teeth not my tongue right? Work was done, no discomfort other than the fact that I had to keep my mouth open the whole time. I'm ready to go, hmm my eye is feeling rather funny. Oh wait that's because it is numb too and I can't close it unless I use my hand. This is strange. Glad that is over and I can finally close my eye normally again, definitely don't like something wrong with the eye sight. So all in all not too bad, made it through my 'numbing' experience.

When are we going?

I was looking up car rentals today to see if I could get a better rate in November. My oldest noticed what I was doing and said he wanted to go to California some day. I told him we would someday. Fast forward to later the afternoon. I7 was asking if he could get ready, I said sure get your soccer socks and shin guards on. He asked if we were going before or after soccer practice. I said we are only going to soccer tonight and he got very upset so I asked him to come to me and tell me where else he thought we were going. "But Mom you said we were going to CA" Trying not to laugh I explained how that would be in November and we looked on a map how far away it was from here, talked about Daddy needing to take time off from work and it'd be a good idea to save a little more money for the trip;) Sorry kid that 3 week trip is just little out of the realm of spur of the moment accessibility for our family!
